For the first three mothers-to-be contacting me, I will provide services free of charge!
My name is Lacree Cross, and I am a certified birth and postpartum doula trained by Doula Training International. I was born in Romania and adopted at the age of 5. I currently reside in Atlanta, Ga., and I am offering my services to intown Atlanta including the Decatur area. I have always been a nurturer-my Mom says it’s because I’m an old soul. Since I was eight years old, I have had a passion for learning how to help women in the birthing process. While most kids were playing with Barbie, I was delivering Kelly! As years went by that passion grew, and that desire has encouraged me to train in the field that I love.
I currently work at the Scott Montessori School of Decatur, Ga. The experience from this job has greatly contributed to my knowledge of childcare. My ultimate dream is to become a midwife and being a certified doula is the first step in reaching my goal.
What is a Doula?
A doula is a individual who helps guide pregnant women during the labor and delivery process as well as provide support once the baby has been born. A doula does not perform any medical procedures or treatments that are the responsibility of the obstetrician or midwife. Instead the doula provides undivided attention and support to the laboring mother and her family.
Birth/ Postpartum Care!
As a birth doula I will be with the mother when the time has arrived for labor. Once the baby has been born, I provide support for the new family with postpartum care. This can consist of many duties including child care, basic household chores, and education tips and advice for the new family!
